Michael A. Brittingham
Republican for Oklahoma State Representative – District 19
Mike Brittingham is a native of Pushmataha County. Born in Hugo and raised in Moyers, he’s called this corner of Oklahoma home his entire life. A proud 1980 graduate of Antlers High School, Mike has spent decades giving back to the community that shaped him.
Growing up, Mike learned the value of hard work early on. He stocked shelves at his family’s grocery store and swung a hammer on construction and roofing jobs with his dad during school breaks. After high school, he joined Pruett’s Grocery, where he worked for 10 years, starting as a junior. In 1989, Mike took on a demanding role as a UPS package car driver while building his own business, Brittingham Grocery. Not one to sit still, he later expanded the business, constructing a new building and adding a laundromat and 45 storage units.
In 2010, Mike’s passion for serving others led him to public office. Elected as Pushmataha County Commissioner for District 1, he sold his businesses to focus on the needs of his neighbors. Voters showed their trust in him, re-electing him in 2014 with 73% of the vote and twice more without opposition. For 12 of his 15 years as a commissioner, Mike served as Chairman of the Board, earning a reputation for bringing people together to get things done. His leadership has secured millions in funding for roads, bridges, and other infrastructure through partnerships with local, tribal, and federal agencies.
Community Leadership & Impact
Mike’s commitment to Pushmataha County and beyond shines through in his service:
-
KEDDO Board (15 years): As Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Executive Committee Chair, and Member, Mike helped secure grants for fire departments, rural water systems, and county roads.
-
Circuit Engineering District Board (10 years): He oversaw funding for critical projects like Miller/Jumbo Road, Ethel Road, Greenwood Industrial Access Road, and Sardis Lake Access Road.
-
OPH&W Health Insurance Board (14 years): Mike worked to ensure affordable insurance for county employees across Oklahoma.
-
County Health Department Board Chair (14 years): He led efforts to modernize emergency services, including a switch to digital radio communications.
-
Little Dixie/LIFT Board (5 years): Mike supported transit, housing, and senior services across multiple counties.

Mike’s also partnered with the Choctaw Nation to upgrade jail security and facilities, improving public safety. His collaboration with state lawmakers brought a new Service Oklahoma (DMV) office to Pushmataha County—a project now seen as a model for economic development and accessibility statewide.
In 2016, Mike’s courage was recognized with a Commendation from the Governor of Oklahoma after he risked his life to rescue a woman from floodwaters. It’s the kind of selflessness that defines him.
With a lifetime of experience in business, infrastructure, and public service, Mike Brittingham is ready to take his conservative values and proven leadership to the Oklahoma State Legislature as District 19’s next Representative.
